A glorious day at the Sheepmount, Carlisle for the County Championships saw some good, solid performances and new personal bests for Ellenborough Athletes. The result of the day was for Charlotte Orton who at 16 years of age is now competing in the Senior Women category. Charlotte scooped three gold medals. The 100m, 200m and Long Jump. Ricky Lightfoot made the long journey to South Africa to take part in the ‘Otter Trail Run’. Marathon Distance. Four river crossings. Over 2600 meters of elevation gain and 11 significant climbs. The record for this race was 4 hours 23 minutes, Ricky won it in 4:15:15.

Ricky Lightfoot won the 77k world trail running championships in Wales. 4th IAU Trail World Championships – July 7, 2013 In sweltering conditions Great Britain and France dominated this weekend at the 4th IAU Trail World Championships in Llanrwst. There was home delight as Britain’s Ricky Lightfoot won the men’s individual race by almost 10 minutes, and in doing so led the GB and NI team to a superb team gold. Ellenborough AC has three new County Champions, Charlotte Orton, Holly Adams and Thomas Adams. The trio all competed in the North East Counties Indoor Track & Field Championships in Gateshead at the weekend. This incorporated the Cumbria County indoor Championship, and all three athletes came home successful. Thomas at U13 level logged three new personal best performances in Shot, Long Jump and in the 60m sprint. Holly stepped up to the U15 age group this year and she is off to a flying start, setting new PB’s in Shot which she won outright, and she finished second behind Annalise James of Gateshead Harriers in the 60m Hurdles. Ravenstonedale 10K Road Race. 24/11/2012 Three Elbra lads turned out for this 10K race at Ravenstonedale. Head south on the M6, turn left at Tebay, go towards Kirkby Stephen for 6 miles and you come to a lovely little village that looks a little more Yorkshire than Cumbria. It has to be said, the people there were as warm and welcoming as you’ll find anywhere. The race was a two lap affair that took you through the village at the start, in the middle and to the finish. This made it a good spectator event. The course was tarmack(ish) country roads that were almost B roads at times. The good thing was, there was hardly any traffic. The race was […]
