Muncaster Luck Fell Race

15th March 2026. 12 noon start.

BM 15km /620m (9.3 miles / 2050 ft)

Entry on the day. Cash only. £5

This is a tougher race than you might think. Despite not venturing onto the high fells, the ground is rough and the navigation can be tricky in misty conditions. The ground between Raven Crag and the Pepper Pot will especially test your patience, and the two river Esk crossings can be ‘challenging’.

For spectators, there will be a charge to enter the Castle grounds. The race would not be possible without the support of the Muncaster Estate, so please support if you can.

No dogs – lambing time.

Parking

Parking will be in the Muncaster Castle car park. Please park responsibly.

Registration

Registration will be adjacent to the Muncaster Castle ticket office lodge (toilets here). Take care crossing the A595.

Runners

Competitors must be over 18 and be prepared to carry full kit. This includes waterproof whole-body cover (with taped seams and integrated attached hood), hat, gloves, map of the race route, compass, whistle and emergency food. Kit will be checked prior to the start. No kit, no start.

If you sign-on for your number and for some reason DO NOT START, you must inform the Race Organiser, so we can confirm the number of starters. If you retire during the race, please inform a marshal or the Race Organiser as soon as you possibly can.

The race is permitted by the FRA and therefore held under FRA rules. All competitors should be aware of and adhere to the FRA Rules for Competition which are available in the FRA Calendar and website at http://www.fellrunner.org.uk
