Xmas Run 2018 – Eskdale Watershed

Last year on our Xmas Run Ricky uttered the words “I’ve never been so relieved to get off a ……. hillside!” This year wasn’t quite so bad, however, as we stood ankle deep in bog, words similar to the above were starting to creep in. At this point the rain had been driving down on us for the last 4 hours, as we waded through heavy bogs, tussocks and rivers. The wind picked up on the higher ground and with it, our body temperatures dropped. So our planned route, The Eskdale Watershed (as we named it), was wisely shortened to not take in the higher ground. Alex’ Bob Graham Round

Friday 17th August. 22:00. Ellenborough’s Alex Roberts set off on an attempt of the Bob Graham Round. After a summer of glorious weather and few date push-backs, the decision was made to finally go ahead and give it a go this weekend. That was despite a pretty damp weather forecast. Leg 1 proved the previous statement was a bit of an understatement, with strong winds & rain on the summit of Skiddaw. The fun didn’t stop though, on Blencathra the clag and driving rain made visibility down to only a couple of feet. After a few circles trying to find the actual summit the descent was made. Xmas Run 2017 – 4 x 3,000ft

3 Peaks by Bike (Chris Lister)

This wasn’t an Ellenborough challenge as such, but one that deserves a mention. It was completed by one of our runners, Chris Lister. Along with other Ellenborough runners for support on each of the 3 peaks. Below is the report of his challenge. Introduction The Sea Level to Sea Level British Three Peaks by bike involves climbing the highest mountains in England, Scotland and Wales, and cycling in between, using nothing but human power.
